FoodFutures: North Lancashire's Sustainable Food Partnership

FoodFutures is North Lancashire’s award-winning Sustainable Food Partnership.

Formally known as Sustainable Food City (SFC) Lancaster, the partnership was initiated by Transition City Lancaster in 2014 and has since met at least monthly to oversee the development of collaborative food work locally. In January 2018 SFC Lancaster began the process of developing its partnership structure and action plan which has evolved rapidly since a June 2018 REFRESH event and has since been rebranded as FoodFutures.

FoodFutures is now made up of a series of working groups comprised of representatives from the local farming community, local food businesses, the public sector, Lancaster City and County council, Lancaster District Food Poverty Alliance, NGOs, community food groups and our local academic institutions.

This partnership of people from across North Lancashire’s food system are working together to cultivate "a thriving local food system that is healthy, resilient and fair".

We connect initiatives and catalyse action across the food system; supporting the development of a collaborative cross-sector food partnership that oversees the cultivation and delivery of a sustainable food strategy for Lancaster District.
